World Youth Day Rio has come and gone, but the Spirit lives in us. The prayer of World Youth Day 2013 remains valid: So we pray...
Oh, Father, You sent Your Eternal Son to save the world and chose men and women, through Him, with Him and in Him, to proclaim the Good News to all nations. Grant us the graces necessary so that joy may shine in the faces of all young people, the joy of being, by the power of the Holy Spirit, the evangelists the Church needs in the Third Millennium.
Oh Christ, Redeemer of humanity, the image of Your open arms on the top of Corcovado welcomes all people. In Your paschal offering, You brought us by the Holy Spirit to an encounter of sonship with the Father. Young people, who are fed by Eucharist, hear You in Your Word and meet You as their brother, need your infinite mercy to run the paths of the world missionary-disciples of the New Evangelization.
Oh Holy Spirit, Love of the Father and the Son, with the splendor of Your Truth and the fire of Your Love, send Your Light to all young people so that, driven by their experience of World Youth Day, they may bring to the four corners of the world faith, hope and charity, becoming great builders of a culture of life and peace and catalysts of a new world. Amen
The Cathedral Youth and Young Adults group meets each week on a Thursday evening. Upcoming events are listed below, and gives you some idea of our activities. The Cathedral Youth and Young Adults group participates in a range of youth events organised by the Archdiocese of Canberrra and Goulburn: e.g. Guiness and God, Turn the Tide summer camps. We also participate in frequent ecumenical prayer gatherings with other Christian Youth Groups in Canberra. Please feel free to join us for prayer of a Thursday evening. As a group we are participating in the social justice initiative, selling coffee to support East Timor and a number of other social justice initiatives. Second Sunday each month at 5:30pm - Youth Mass at the Cathedral
The evening mass every second Sunday of the month is when the Young Adults group takes responsibility for the service. If you’d like to get involved, whether it be helping out with music, readings, collections or selling Fair Trade East Timorese coffee after Mass, let us know. We’ll probably head out to a local restaurant for dinner afterwards. For those in the music ministry, keep your ear out for information on hymns and practice time.
Every Thursday at 6:30pm - Prayers - Cathedral Side Chapel
As usual, we have Rosary and Lectio Divina at the Cathedral on Thursday followed by dinner in the presbytery. Remember that the sacrament of Reconciliation is also available from 6pm in the confessionals.

We leave our boats behind so we may follow Jesus. Called to be disciples, we seek to make visible the presence of Jesus in our world.
For Christ is the source of our life, the sustaining presence in our hearts, the gift we bring to the world.
